About Us

Our team

We are a team of researchers specializing in Jewish genealogy in the territory of Ukraine and the former imperial administrative entities. For us, this is not only a profession, but a responsible attitude to the memory of families whose stories were interrupted by wars, deportations, Soviet repressions and emigration.
We combine an academic approach, hands-on archival practice and respect for every family we work with. For us, every project is not “just another report”, but an opportunity to give a voice back to people whose names remained in documents yet slipped out of living memory.
Our team includes historians, archivists, specialists in Jewish studies, and researchers who are proficient in Hebrew, Yiddish and the languages of historical documents (pre-reform Russian, Polish, German, Romanian).
We work without intermediaries or machine translation: we read original records, understand the specifics of rabbinic formulations, communal books, vital records and documents of communal institutions. This allows us to avoid mistaken conclusions and inaccurate reconstructions.

How we operate

We combine local expertise with international resources: archives of Ukraine and neighboring countries, specialized Jewish databases, memorial books, maps, cemeteries, community materials and testimonies.
At every stage, we explain what exactly we are doing, which sources we are checking, where the limits of what is possible lie, and why we consider certain conclusions to be well-founded.

Original sources and working in the languages of the documents

We work with authentic records in Hebrew, Yiddish and other languages, without automatic translation, so as not to distort names, facts or context.

Deep specialization in the Jewish history of Ukraine

We navigate historical borders, networks of shtetls, changes of place names, legal statuses and the specific legal position of Jews — this is our daily practice, not just a general backdrop.

Ethics, confidentiality, respect for memory

We handle topics of the Holocaust, persecution and changes of identity with care. All information remains confidential, and the way we present the material is accurate, dignified and honest.
